The Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), under the Department of General Education, Kerala, has taken extensive measures to modernize the upcoming State School Sports Festival, scheduled to be held in Cochin from November 4 to 11. For the first time, this event will combine athletics and games in an Olympic-style format. KITE is implementing a range of technological solutions to make the organization and coverage of the event a high-tech experience. From sub-district to state levels, all 730 competitions will be organized and tracked online through KITE’s dedicated portal, www.sports.kite.kerala.gov.in. This portal provides real-time updates, results, meet records, and progress of competitions across 17 venues.
Results, categorized by district and school, along with winner photos, will also be available. Furthermore, the portal features a unique SSUID (School Sports Unique Identification Number) to track each student’s performance from sub-district to national level. KITE has also launched a mobile app for this year to facilitate the registration of students participating at the state level. Starting daily at 6.30 AM and continuing until 8 PM, KITE VICTERS will broadcast live visuals from three key venues. The main studio will be set up at the Maharaja’s Stadium, with additional coverage from Kadavanthra Sports Hub and M.A. College, Kothamangalam. For other venues, the broadcast will be deferred live. In an exciting addition, KITE will provide live coverage of cycling events on Container Road with helicam for real-time streaming. Sprint events will also feature helicam coverage. Live telecasts will commence with the inauguration ceremony on November 4, offering detailed updates on results, point standings, interviews, and slow-motion replays of finals on KITE VICTERS. Renowned sports commentators from the Athletics Federation of India, including Sreekumaran Nair, Griselda Xavier, Abhilash, Simi Maryam, and Mahesh, will provide full-time commentary for KITE VICTERS.
Viewers can tune in via the KITE VICTERS app, victers.kite.kerala.gov.in, KITE’s YouTube channel itsvicters, and the e-Vidya Kerala channel. SchoolWiki, KITE’s dedicated platform (www.schoolwiki.in), will feature continuous photo updates from all event venues. Under the guidance of Little KITES, student teams are handling documentation, creating promotional videos, fillers, and social media reels. Students from Kerala Media Academy are also participating in these documentation activities. “Unlike previous years, where coverage focused on a primary venue, this festival will cover all 17 venues with expanded facilities and a team of over 70 technical personnel deployed by KITE. CEO of KITE, K. Anvar Sadath, emphasized the comprehensive arrangements made for this festival,” K. Anvar Sadath, Chief Executive Officer, KITE, said More than 4,000 students from 38 schools across the city will participate in a mass drill during the opening ceremony of the eight-day State School Sports Meet, scheduled to begin in Ernakulam from Monday. The sports meet will be held from Nov 4 to 11 in the district as "Kerala School Olympics Kochi 24". It is conducted every four years, modelled on the Olympics. Indian hockey legend PR Sreejesh has been named as the brand ambassador of the eight-day event.
According to education department officials in the district, students from schools between Aluva and Fort Kochi will perform the mass drill on Nov 4, as part of the opening day celebrations of the sports meet. "The event will feature a march past where another 3,000 students from across the state, with 250 students from each district along with 28 students from schools in Dubai prescribing the Kerala syllabus, will also participate in the sports meet," said deputy director of education in Ernakulam Honey G Alexander.
For the sports meet, 12 food distribution centres are being set up for the participants and others across 17 venues. The main dining tent, covering 10,000sqft, is being set up next to the Maharaja's Stadium, accommodating 1,000 people at a time.
Alexander said the renovation works at Maharaja's Stadium are completed, and currently, debris are being removed after the completion of renovations. Additionally this year's events will be all ‘inclusive’ as 1800 differently-abled students will participate in 21 events of the meet, in 3 games and 18 athletic events, for the first time in the country.
